Best Selling Author Tom Glenn to be Featured on Close Up Radio

COLUMBIA, MARYLAND, UNITED STATES, August 1, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — Throughout history, we have shamelessly glorified war in the name of profit, propaganda, and mindless entertainment, when in fact war is one of our greatest failures. War is barbaric, gratuitous, unjust, debasing and has cost us millions of innocent lives. Hollywood box office success movies, Saving Private Ryan, Platoon, and We Were Soldiers, were praised for depicting the real terror of combat, but for the most part these movies still fell short with factual inaccuracies and actually toned down the grittiness of the horrific reality of what it’s actually like to be in a war zone. If you want an honest and deeply intimate realistic portrayal, Tom Glenn, a Vietnam vet and best-selling author, is someone who has experienced battle firsthand. Through his raw, eye-opening books, he exemplifies how war is not only fundamentally wrong, but psychologically damaging for every single one of us on earth.

Tom is a Vietnam vet who has had multiple careers including intelligence operative, musician, linguist in seven languages, cryptologist, caregiver for the dying, and leadership coach. He has a BA in Music, a master’s in government, and a doctorate in Public Administration. A sought-after public speaker, he is the author of a series of novels and short story collections: Friendly Casualties, Last of the Annamese, The Trion Syndrome, No-Accounts, Secretocracy, and Coming to Terms.

“It’s unbelievable how the U.S. essentially and unapologetically glorifies combat. I stopped reading books on war because they never truly captured the savagery, carnage, and the unimaginable devastation that surrounded us on the battlefield. How we had to witness our buddies horrifically killed when their mutilated body parts landed all over us. The helplessness, suffering, and anguish of combat is indescribable. You become so jolted that your soul is wounded forever.”

With such gut wrenching accounts, how does it not evoke our sense of humanity? Yet we continually disengage and desensitize ourselves and enjoy watching bloodshed depicted in movies which, for the most part, are purely made for entertainment and profit.

Tom was first assigned to Vietnam in 1962 and escaped under fire when Saigon fell in April 1975. He remembers vividly the terrible day North Vietnamese took Saigon as he pleaded for evacuation, warning how the North Vietnamese were preparing to attack. But the White House did not believe him, nor did the ambassador allow him to evacuate his subordinates. Tom lied, cheated, and stole to get his 43 guys safely out of the country. The last two to fly out were on the afternoon of April 29, 1975, after the North Vietnamese were already in the streets of Saigon. Glenn escaped under fire by helicopter that night in pitch black darkness and torrential rain. To this day, Tom still mourns the South Vietnamese left behind—the North Vietnamese killed most of them on the spot; those who survived were sent to concentration camps.

For Tom, the pain of his time in battle persisted as he went on to struggle with the debilitating long term effects of post-traumatic stress injury (PTSI). Fortunately, he found much needed healing and solace through his prolific writings and humanitarian work by alleviating the suffering of others in need. All his experiences during the thirteen years he traveled between the United States and Vietnam are brilliantly reflected in his prize-winning seventeen short stories and six novels. They are all must-read.

Tom emphasizes how today the similarities of the atrocities in Ukraine remind Tom once again the senselessness and depravity of putting young soldiers and civilians through the horror of battle. Comparatively, Russians invaded Ukraine the way Americans invaded Vietnam, and he predicts a guerrilla warfare is inevitable.

Moreover, Tom points out how our Democracy is under attack. Thankfully, Trump’s attempts to take over the country were unsuccessful, or we would no longer even have a democracy.

Furthermore, our Supreme Court has been destroyed, and we are potentially on the path to autocracy. Not only that, but there are also still Trump supporters in the government attempting to control elections. Despite all that, Tom is confident that Democrats will win in 2022.

Tom says the United States must restore its international leadership role. “It is crucial that we lead the world toward universal democracy and freedom.”

“Why do we have a disproportionate amount of wealthy and impoverished people? It’s critical we refocus our emphasis on individualism and stress collectivism so that all of us can share the abundance of our nation. And we must reduce the number of guns in the hands of our citizens to bring down the numbers killed by gunfire, already more than 25,000 so far this year.”

Tom affirms that although the repercussions of combat were hard learned, he has no misgivings.

“I am proud to have fulfilled my patriotic duty, and I will live with the repercussions that have weighed heavily on me from the tragedies I experienced in combat. I live with no regrets because everything I did came from my love for my country and my love for the man fighting by my side.”

“Love Life. Love God. Love each other. That’s all there is.”— Joe Rubinstein

I cannot imagine a world without Joe, but thankfully his life, legacy, and lessons will live on through the example he set for us all. Joe gave us an inspirational map on how to deal with adversity.”

— Author Nancy Sprowell Geise

CASTLE ROCK, CO, UNITED STATES, July 22, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — Holocaust survivor Joe Rubinstein passed away peacefully in Loveland, Colorado, on July 18, 2022. Joe was the believed to be the oldest known Holocaust survivor in Colorado.

Icek Jakub Rubinsztejn ”Joe Rubinstein” was born on September 16, 1920 in Radom, Poland. After Germany invaded Poland, Joe and his family were sent to the Radom Ghetto in 1941.

Two weeks later, Joe was taken from the ghetto and sent to several concentration camps. Joe never saw his family again. His widowed mother, Reska, his older brother, Dawid, Joe’s identical twin, Chaim, his younger brother, Abram, and younger sister, Laja, were all believed murdered at the Treblinka Death camp following the “liquidation” of the Radom Ghetto in 1942.

“It is my deepest prayer,” said Nancy Sprowell Geise, author of the award-winning book about his life, Auschwitz #34207 – The Joe Rubinstein Story, “that at this moment Joe is in the loving embrace of his beloved family. Although he survived decades without them, they never were far from his thoughts and heart. Even at the age of 101, Joe could not speak of them without weeping.”

Throughout his life, Joe defied the odds. He went on, not only to survive several of the most notorious Nazi concentration camps, including over two years at Auschwitz/Birkenau, but to live a long, productive, and joy-filled life. Joe and his bride, Irene, moved to the United States in 1949. Joe would become one of New York City’s leading shoe designers, working for such iconic companies as Korkease Shoes, Herbert Levine Shoes, Nina Shoes, Gelbrow Shoes, and later in California for Sbicca of California and Cherokee of California.

Joe’s philosophy of living so long: “Eat right, exercise every day and help each other. That’s what I did.”

Geise said, “For nearly 70 years Joe never told anyone about his story because he did not think anything good could come of it. After the book about his life was published, Joe was deeply touched by the many letters and feedback he got from people around the world telling him that if he found a way to live a joy-filled life after losing all he did, then they knew they could find a way to face their troubles.”

Geise is grateful that Joe finally decided to tell his story so that his family of origin will never be forgotten. “He became a voice for many who perished in the Holocaust and did not live to share their stories.”

“He was an inspiration to so many,” Geise said. “He will continue to be an inspiration for future generations about not giving in to despair and not turning to darkness. Instead, Joe saw the best in people. He lived into the idea of how we each have a choice in how we respond to adversity. Joe chose joy.”

Joe is survived by his wife, Irene, of 74 years, a son, daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

On his 100th birthday, the City of Fort Collins, Colorado, declared the day “Joe Rubinstein Day.”

Geise said, “Joe told me in one of the last conversations I had with him, that every day he thanks God that he is alive, but that he is ready when God calls him home. Joe loved to remind people that life is precious and that we should never give up on it. I am grateful that he never did.”

Marine and Police Officer Michael Roberts Releases Fourth Book in his Pale Rider Alternate History Series

Aden's Chance By Michael Roberts, An Alternative Military History Time Travel Novel

Aden’s Chance By Michael Roberts

Bestselling author Michael Roberts has released the fourth book in his widely successful alternate history series, Aden’s Chance.

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, CALIFORNIA, USA, July 12, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — In less than two years, Michael Roberts has achieved something amazing — creating a successful and best-selling alternate American history book series. The California author just released Aden’s Chance, his publicist announced today. The book is positioned to become another bestseller and is available at Amazon.com.

Aden’s Chance is the fourth book in his Pale Rider series. Like the trilogy which precedes it, Aden’s Chance continues the story of the Pale Rider character, a man sent into the past to help the colonists win the American Revolution. Readers will be entertained from the first page at this creative and unconventional approach to time travel and alternate historical fiction.

In this most recent book, Thomas Cain must travel to the War of 1812. Initially he is supposed to help General Andrew Jackson achieve victory, but he is side-tracked when a dear friend tries to change the tides of history and finds himself in trouble. Thomas Cain is the only one who can save him.

“Bravo to the author for an entertaining read and utilizing the real life historical characters without dishonoring them,” one reviewer cheers for the series. Other reviews call the series “Exceptional,” “A Great Read,” and “Fantastic Alternate History!”

Michael Roberts first conceived the idea after watching the popular musical “Hamilton,” and sketched out the first three books. The more he worked on them, more ideas about possible avenues and plot ideas came to mind, creating rich settings, engaging characters, and the potential for several additional books in the series.

The books of the Pale Rider series by Michael Roberts include:
Book 1-Second Chance
Book 2-Another Chance
Book 3-Final Chance
Book 4-Aden’s Chance
Book 5 (upcoming)-Lafitte’s Chance
